The Shepway Harness Club hold a variety of events throughout the year.
Our club members are from all age groups and all levels of driving and drive a variety of turnouts from mini Shetlands to large horses. We are friendly group who exchange ideas and help each other out.
Non–members, juniors and novices are always welcome to join us at our events (subject to suitable insurance and assessment if driving)
Here are some of the things we do….
Drives take place at different venues throughout the year. A route is worked out in advance and you are given a map on arrival, usually there is a long or short route along quite country lanes, some drives maybe partly or all off road. You go at your own pace, there is always plenty of horse box parking and time for tea/coffee, cakes and a chat afterwards.
Horse Driving Trials held indoors during the winter and outside in the summer.
Always popular as there is something for everyone from complete beginners to very experienced drivers. We do a variety of things like clear round cones, showing, world cup style events, it really is a family day out.
Always useful to attend these as you can learn so much to improve your driving skills. Even if you don’t have a horse or don’t drive just come along and watch you are bound to learn something.
VISITS AND TRIPS
We have trips and visits out to various places such as Olympia.
TALKS AND SOCIAL DAYS
We invite guest speakers who give talks, sometimes including film/video or slide shows, on various horsey subjects.
Everyone is welcome to all our events (subject to suitable insurance and assessment if driving)
Volunteers always needed
We are always delighted to welcome volunteers to help at our events, they play a very important role as the events would not be able to go ahead without them and thier help is always much appreciated. There’s always a variety of things to do from timekeeping, stewarding, helping set up courses and it’s a great way for beginners to learn about carriage driving and meet new friends.
You do not have to be a member to volunteer.
Not sure what’s involved? Just come along to one of our events and watch the action and have a chat to other members. All of our events are free to watch. Click here to see this years events.
ALL DRIVERS NEED TO BE ASSESSED BEFORE ATTENDING OUR EVENTS
